China’s Cyber Threat/Our Power Grid

November 24, 2014

The news today is something we’ve suspected for a while. It is official now because the NSA director admitted it while speaking before a House committee. Admiral Mike Rogers is the director of the NSA and commander of U S Cyber Command.

“Rogers said he believed China along with “one or two” other countries had the capability to successfully launch a cyber-attack that could shut down the electric grid in parts of the United States.”

The possibility of such cyber attacks by U.S. adversaries has been widely known, but never confirmed publicly by the nation’s top cyber official.

At a House hearing, Rogers says U.S. adversaries are performing electronic “reconnaissance,” on a regular basis so that they can be in a position to attack the industrial control systems that run everything from chemical facilities to water treatment plants.

What would this mean for us? How about no gas for your car. Or electricity to heat or cool your home. No grocery stores would be open-if they were, their shelves would be bare. There would be certain anarchy.

Speaking of anarchy, watch Ferguson Mo when the Grand Jury verdict comes out, maybe later today. Store fronts are boarded up in expectation of unrest. Also, gun sales and concealed carry permit applications have skyrocketed in that area.

Just some things to think about. Don’t live in fear. Just be Ready for Anything.
